This is one doodle that can't be undid, homeskillet...

So here goes my first pregnant lady rant, deep breath everyone. Since when is preggo a real word? My guess is that someone found an abnormally plump waffle and said it’s a pregnant eggo..it’s..a..preggo! (Thanks Eggo, I expect the royalties for this one.) It’s not acceptable for any other medical condition to have a shortened, trendy form, that’d be disrespectful. Now I’m not saying that I take offense to this word, it just rubs me the wrong way. I’m mature enough to make the decision to have a child, so I’d appreciate it if an adult vocabulary were to accompany that. Preggers is another sand-papery word that I feel like should be thrown around between middle schoolers. The sad part is that I’m sure they both stemmed from teen pregnancies, but that could just be me stereotyping. Either way, I’m a 21 year old adult married woman, who is pregnant, with child, expecting, or just a plain ol’ mom.

Kerry got me an early Mother's Day present..I feel like I'm part of a new club. :)

Sunset Swish

Plants! Plants are one of God's wonderful gifts to us. I love plants. God also give some of us the ability to grow a garden of Eden in a pot like my Grandma Barnett on the Farm, others who did not receive this gift are good at starting forest fires. I'd like to think that I'm pretty good at growing plants. My family had a lot of gardens all my life and I really miss those gardens. I wont say we were out there every day pullings weeds, I wont say that I ever pulled weeds. I will say that it was fun and the veggies and fruits were probably the best in the world. So Kristin and I decided to start our own sort of garden. We bought a potted tomato plant. We figured we'd do alright with it because we had revived my bonsai tree and are growing back the missing arms of our Christmas Cactus. As with all our plants we just about killed it at first, there was not sunlight on our balcony. Yet we moved it to the very edge and it seems to be doing better, it also seems to be growing off our balcony. I hope the apartment doesn't mind.
I got my books! Any one who knows me really well knows that it is a big deal to me when I get books that I order. I just really like to read I guess. So a couple of weeks ago I ordered the first book to The Sword of Truth series. I think there are twelve books in the series so it should keep me going for a little while. A few days later I received an email that said my book was not coming because they were sold out of it. Only a small rock in the road so I ordered it again from a different seller. Another couple of days went by and another email came saying that the seller didn't even respond to my wanting to buy the book. Fail! Yet I am persistent. This time I bought the first three books as a box set. I just received it Monday.
For all of you who don't know this series is now a television show called Legend of the Seeker. I'm four chapters in and its really good.

What ever lies beyond this morning is a little later on

So I knew before we got pregnant that there would be lots of sacrifices and I know that we have only scraped the top of the soap bar. Still some times it just seems like we lose some the things that we see as so important, things like money and time, but we know that for those things we are going to get something so much better. There are some things that we lose though that most people know they are going to lose but I didn't expect to for another month or two. The thing that I'm talking about is sleep. Every one was aware that when they have a baby there will be some nights where you lose sleep, but I didn't think that I'd have to deal with it until Kristin was five or six months and then after the baby was born.
I know that most people reading this think that they know what is going on and perhaps they do but really it sounds better when you hear it written down like this. So first of all I sleep very deep and apparently I move quite a lot and am not very nice in my sleep. I have always been told that I steal blankets and elbow people in the back, but now I am being told that I breathe too loud. I'm not exactly sure whats wrong with breathing but apparently I do it too loudly. maybe if some one turned my nose the volume would go down, either way i got woke up four times the other night for breathing.
Kristin takes up more bed. I don't mean that to sound mean because she doesn't take up more room she just spreads out more. Now Kris and I are both above average humans and we sleep on a full sized bed. We both hang off the end but we make due with it for now. BUT with Kristin spread out and my nasty habits of beating people up in my sleep we aren't meeting the best hours of sleep. Yay for kids?
Well at least Justin doesn't think I breathe too loudly.

These are a few of my favorite things...

I’m not as eloquent of a writer as Kerry, so my posts will probably tend to be very vanilla and jump around a lot, so I’ll apologize for that in advance.

As Kerry said before, these first posts will be catch up, so I’ll fill you in on how I’m catching up my life from my baby girl ranking to a mom. We moved into our current apartment shortly after our wedding last year, and as embarrassed as I am to say, it’s been very sparsely furnished since then. Like, not even up to “poor college kid” status. We had a futon in our last apartment and that got the job done, but between my two giant children (Kerry and Maymie), they had that thing broken down in no time. I’m sure you’re saying to yourself, “That’s awesome news Kristin, time to upgrade!” If only we were that logical. Needless to say, our fix included a trip to Home Depot and some plywood..Im sure you can now see the pride and joy I have for my beautiful new couch. =] We’ve also gotten all of our wall art put up. Our empty cave is beginning to feel very cozy. Step 1: Turn a house into a home. Check.

I said we put them up, I never said they were filled. ;]

My very own Vanna White. "Now as you can see, this couch displays roomy seating accommodations for several people, or one giant." Love you.

I'm gonna keep on lovin' you...

We had the daunting first appointment a couple weeks ago, and I must say the biggest milestone thus far was seeing our baby for the first time. Anyone who has or is in the process of having a child can agree, it’s the most amazing feeling in the world!! Logically I knew I was pregnant, but when they started the sonogram and that baby popped up on the screen it was like a surprise party. “Surprise, there’s YOUR BABY!!!” Insanity. We also got to hear the heartbeat, which was 170 beats per minute, pretty fast for such a little thing! As of now baby is measuring at about 3 inches long, and approximately an ounce in weight..we’ve both got a long way to go! Our doctor said everything looks perfect, and we’re really excited to see what’s new at our next appointment. We were blessed with a wonderful doctor that we both absolutely adore, and I’m thankful for such a knowledgeable person to be holding my hand along the way. Of course our baby is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, so here’s me warming up in my role as mom and showing “her” off. (We’re hoping for a girl, and I have a feeling it’s a girl, so we’ll refer to the baby from here on out as a girl. =] We’ll obviously be happy either way with a healthy baby!)

Our little one. (Help us come up with a cute nickname for lil' fetus in the womb. =]) She was moving around and having a party the entire time..very weird to see something moving inside of you, but not feel it!!

Baby's heartbeat, or the equalizer to a REO Speedwagon song, whichever makes more sense. ;]

Welcome to the Island of the Honest man...

Yay! This'll be post number two. That means that our blog has doubled in size, it has increased by 100%. I am so excited for all of you who have stuck with us this far, that means you mom. I promise I wont get excited by amount of posts again until we get to number ten.
So we found out we were pregnant about eight weeks ago after I got into a car wreck. My poor little alero was turned into an accordion and Kristin's body was turned into a coffee pot to brew up a baby. Since then her eating habits have changed a little mostly for the worse. She doesn't like to eat much, and when she thinks she really needs to eat its just her brain playing tricks on her. I know many pregnant ladies go through this but I was certain that I wanted to find a solution to her eating. After thinking long and hard I remembered the one thing that she would never pass up. Lunchables. The tiny pizzas in a plastic case made on a cracker with the worst smelling red sauce in the world and fake cheese. But I was right, she did like them, and she at them. The only other thing that we have gone out of the way to get that isn't usually part of our shopping list was cookies. Great Value chocolate chip cookies. Here's a picture so all of you can get cookie envy.

That's right they are awesomified by the amplification by the close up on the camera lens.

Episode I: Let the blogging begin

We're pregnant! I know that most of you already know that but as this is the first post to the blog I thought that it was appropriate that we should start with that, and since I'm going to try and not post a book every time I blog here a lot of these first posts will be back up work.
So last year Kristin and I got married in October this year we are going to have a baby in November. The due date is the second and according to all these books and websites, its going to be a wild ride. Her body is changing daily, so is her attitude and her memory at times. But we are real excited for the baby to come and are doing our best to plan what we can until baby gets here. Kristin read that if you have a puppy and she is a mama's girl, ours is, then you should get it accumulated to not having so much time with mom and to all the baby sounds and smells. I'm not really sure how we are going to get the sounds to work out, but we started using baby lotion so that she can get use to that scent, dirty diapers is another story.
To sum it up here's a picture of Maymie's reaction to us telling her she would be a big sister.

She has such a good attitude about the whole thing.
